Navy blue

Today the weather dictated that a very comfortable, breezy dress be worn, so the trusty well-loved navy striped dress got hauled out. A faithful companion, this dress! Teamed with a cheap and nasty scarf (yes! incredibly cheap and nasty - the print job is catastrophic!!) and a grey long-line cardigan, the look is well...fairly predictable (hands up who does not own a navy stripe dress and grey cardie???)
Anyway, I actually really like navy. I always have. As a teenager I had navy and white striped blinds in my bedroom, and a big chest of drawers painted inky blue. I much prefer it to black. Black to me represents funerals. I know everyone says it is so chic, but I don't know......perhaps I am just continuing a strong line of females who did not wear a lot of black.
Here is a beautiful photo....of Christmas lights, but never-you-mind; look at that inky blue sky. Gorgeous.
Here is a little scrap of fabric
Here are some heavenly beads purchased in Hong Kong. Nice and sparkly. Not quite navy, but they will do.........
A nice friendly mug. Just the right size for my morning two-tea-bags cuppa.

Neutrals.......ho hum...

If anyone knows me, the truth be told that I am much more at hoe when I am wearing colour! I love colour! Every now and then, though, I get swayed by the tide that is popular dressing and I purchase a neutral. This snake print top is one such purchase. It was very hard to match a scarf, and I came up with this lovely crepe and satin scarf that my husband bought for me years ago:
So the colours for today are.....well, grey, and charcoal black, and silver and taupe
Our sometime-resident dog is a poster-boy for grey and white.......
This cute bunny also does grey very nicely. Does it look friendly to you? I am not sure....

A most excellent ancient artefact from the Agora, in Athens. A most magical spot to wander around, and seek respite from the hot sun. I loved that there was a water fountain provided with clean running water where we washed the most delicious strawberries known to man.
Beautiful detail on a house in a tiny village on Rhodes Island, Greece.
I wanted to take these home! The avenue of the Knights in Rhodes featured many beautiful pieces of 'practical art'!!!

Lemony-lemon

Today the sun was shining brightly and it was warm! Fabulous! Striped t-shirt led the clothing challenge for the say, and a bright scarf was chosen to pick up on some of the colours.
The colours for today were brown, yellow and mint
Lots of brown on a tree
Busy bees on busy yellow flowers at the park
 Lovely lemony coloured lemons!!!
Breathtaking crystal clear water in Chania, Crete - no enhancement required, can you believe it???

Italian rediscovery

Today, when I was selecting a scarf, I really wanted to wear something with a lot of red. However, my collection did not present such a scarf, and I pondered. Then I remembered a red scarf that I did have somewhere in the house, which I have not worn for many years. I tracked it down in an infrequently considered drawer, and what a treat!

This scarf was purchased a life-time ago whilst in Roma. As a young Australian girl, with her backpack I felt so embarrassed being around all these glamourous Romans. So I bought a scarf. It helped the outfits somewhat! I also rediscovered these beautiful garnet and pearl earrings which complement the scarf perfectly. Teamed with my new white shirt (thanks Uniqlo- $29!!!) and red lippy,  I am all set.
The colour for today is ruby red. One of my two favourite colours in the whole entire world. Not to be confused with orangy-red shades which I don't like so much! There is lots of ruby red in my house:
I like it so much  I painted the walls. Have always been amused by the juxtaposition of foot and nostril in this picture.
Happy to include red striped curtains too!
Beautiful embroidery in this family heirloom
Divine stained glass roses - aren't they simply wonderful?

I don't have piles of apples at my house, but how pretty is all that red??

Jacaranda blue and orange

I really like scarves. I like the colours in them, the patterns, and the way your can coordinate your whole outfit around them. I think they can instantly transform an outfit form ho-hum to wow! I have a growing collection of scarves. None of them are true designer scarves, and some of them are blatant rip-offs, but well, you buy what you can afford (or what you can justify!).

I want to see how many days I can go by incorporating a scarf each day. Here is my first post.

Day 1:
As you can see, it is a lovely copy of a well known scarf. The colours that will feature today will be that lovely periwinkle blue, or you may refer to it as jacaranda blue, and orange. Orange is one of my least like colours and I hardly have any of it in my wardrobe, but I quite like it as an accessory.

such as in these shoes. It also is lovely when spotted in stained glass
or in divine smelling flowers such as these:
I am also quite partial to this little crustacean. Although he is also complemented by many shades of pink which I do like an awful lot!

Here is a beautiful shot of the sky and part of the Venetian old city, in Rhodes, Greece. You don't have to look very far at all in Greece to spy myriad shades of blue!
